Group C in Incoterms (CPT, CIP, CFR, CIF) and Things you may not know
This group comprises four conditions:
● CPT (“Carriage Paid To”)
● CIP (“Carriage and Insurance Paid To”)
● CFR (“Cost and Freight”)
● CIF (“Cost, Insurance and Freight”)
Group C (the letter C for the words ‘Cost’ or ‘Carriage’) requires the seller to bear the cost of transportation to the destination, including costs incurred after the goods have been delivered and transfer the risk of loss or damage of the goods to the buyer.
1. Features of Group C
The features of Group C are not only similar to Groups E, F in terms of delivering the goods at the place of departure but also the same to Group D in specifying the arrival location with the responsibility for transportation resting with the seller.
